Brain Aneurysm

A Brain Aneurysm is a weak, bulging area in an artery in the brain. In the US, it is estimated that 1 in 50 people are walking around with an unruptured brain aneurysm. If the aneurysm ruptures, it becomes a type of stroke (called subarachnoid hemorrhage)1. Brain aneurysms affects women more than men at a ration of 3:22.

In this module we are just going to learn a little bit about brain aneurysms, so that we can understand it better if and when one of our clients experiences it.

Learning Outcomes:

  • To understand what a Brain Aneurysm is

  • Learn about signs and symptoms of Brain Aneurysm

  • Develop a referral process for clients with symptoms

  • Understand appropriate movement prescription for someone diagnosed with Brain Aneurysm

This course is for trainers who:

  • Train women over 40

  • Train women of colour (they carry twice the risk of developing an aneurysm)

  • Would like to further their education in issues that affect predominately women

  • Have an interest in brain health
