Course Description
Women are almost twice as likely as men to suffer from major depression at some point in their lives[1]. Depression is a serious mental illness, and involves prolonged feelings of hopelessness, worthlessness, and lethargy.
About 1 in 6 women in Australia will experience depression during their lifetime. Up to 1 in 10 women experience depression while pregnant, and 1 in 6 women experience depression during the first year after birth[2].
In this session we will:
- Learn about depression in women in more detail
- Understand the signs and symptoms of depression in women
- Hear from Alanna, who had a client reach out with suicidal thoughts
- Learn the process in Australia for getting help with mental illness
- Grasp how to tweak our personal training sessions to encourage thriving mental health in our female clients.
This session is for trainers who:
- Have clients living with depression (or are living with depression themselves)
- Would like to understand depression in women better
- Are committed to learning about women’s health, including mental health
- Want to make as much positive impact on their female clients lives as possible
