Extra Session – Women’s Strength and Conditioning

This is an opportunity to add an extra session a week for the Women who are already training 1x weekly, for when they’d like to train twice. We do not do casual, pay-as-you-go memberships for this program.

Contrary to first impressions, strength and conditioning is not hard core, flat-out training. It is “fit for purpose” exercise that coaches use to get specific adaptations in your body. For women especially, harder, faster, more often, heavier, and further isn’t always “better” – in fact, with our delicately balanced hormonal systems, harder/faster/longer can be catastrophic (especially if you’re already living with a hormone dysfunction).

Instead, I invite you to do enough. Just enough.

Enough to live longer, healthier, with less disease.

Enough to hold off dementia and osteoporosis, heart disease, and autoimmune disease.

Enough to feel bouncy and vibrant, energetic and proud of yourself and your body.

Fitness, strength, and good physical conditioning are about what you can do, they’re measurable – not a beauty standard.

My name is Clare and I am an ex-Australian athlete, ex-NSWIS coach, and on a mission to change how women’s bodies are treated in the fitness industry. If you find exercise a misery, or you’re getting injured a lot, it’s likely this will change in these sessions!

Our Women’s Strength and Conditioning Program is held at Narrabeen Surf Club, corner of Albert and Ocean St, Narrabeen (and online).

Course Description

This is an opportunity to add an extra session a week for the Women who are already training 1x weekly, for when they’d like to train twice.

The Women’s Strength and Conditioning program has been designed to counter the lack of safe and specific training opportunities for women, on the Northern Beaches and Beyond. As an ex Australian Sailing Athlete, with access to the best coaches in the world, Clare finished her career riddled with injuries, the full extent of which didn’t become apparent until she had children of her own. This sent her down a deep dive into women’s health and physiology, and what she found, quite frankly, made her angry!

To say that women are underserved in the fitness industry is an understatement. There is insufficient research, insufficient infrastructure, insufficient thinking about our bodies, minds, and needs; resulting in an environment that is contributing to women getting sick and injured.

Did you know that women are between 5 and 9x more likely to injury a ligament or tendon in the gym (depending on what paper you read)? Did you know that we’re more than twice as likely to develop osteoporosis, autoimmune disease, pelvic floor dysfunctions, and dementia (to name just a few)? Did you know that appropriate exercise for women can prevent, slow down, and even cure these problems for us?

Clare is on a mission to make women’s health at least equally important to men’s health! These sessions are just one small part of that

60 minute sessions are held at:

Tuesdays 6.30am, 9.30am, 11am

Thursdays 6.30am

Fridays 9.30am, 11am

Make sure you leave time for a swim in the ocean, walk along the beach, coffee, or brunch afterwards!
